The Legacy of Black Churches in Rhode Island
February 7 @ 10:00 am - July 31 @ 4:00 pm

That which is sacred to African Heritage communities of Rhode Island took on a range of forms, denominations, and practices. What emerged from the Black, Afro-Caribbean, Cape Verdean, and West African migrants to the Ocean State were institutions of prayer, worship, and service.
The Church as a place of worship, service, and community in African Heritage Rhode Island continues to shine as a symbol of faith, culture, and community, leaving an unforgettable legacy imprinted in the state’s history.
